Reporting to the Director of Finance of TKEDC, the Finance Technician and Administrative Assistant provides full-cycle bookkeeping and day-to-day administrative support across multiple related companies managed by TKEDC. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting compliance and reporting requirements, helping management operate efficiently during periods of growth, change, and new business start-up. The role also provides administrative support to the President of TKEDC as required.

Salary Range: $30.00 to $35.00 per hour. In addition to hourly base salary, TKEDC provides extended health coverage, dental, RRSP matching pension plan, and onsite parking.

Financial Administration:

  • Perform full-cycle bookkeeping, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll processing, and government remittances such as payroll deductions and GST.
  • Maintain accurate, current financial records for multiple related entities, including established operations and new start-up companies.
  • Prepare and maintain general ledgers, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, receipts, and related financial transactions.
  • Support financial reporting and provide information requested by management and external accounting partners.
  • Assist with the setup and ongoing bookkeeping processes for new business operations and expanding company activities.

Administrative Support

  • Provide administrative support to management, including calendar coordination, correspondence, document preparation, and general office assistance.
  • Assist with office administration, scheduling, correspondence, record keeping, and document management.
  • Support operational and organizational needs across the companies as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Diploma, certificate, or post-secondary training in accounting, bookkeeping, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of bookkeeping principles, payroll administration, financial record keeping, and standard office administration practices.

Experience Requirements

  • 25 years of experience in bookkeeping, finance support, accounting administration, or a similar role.
  • Experience processing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and government remittances is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting multiple business entities, start-up environments, or growing operations is considered an asset.

Skills and Competencies

  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational ability.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
