The Opportunity

The Ottawa Senators areseekingan energetic, detail-oriented professional to join ourFinanceteamas aCoordinator, Payroll & Benefits.This is an excellent opportunity to join an NHL franchise at anentry levelposition which will allow the candidate to become fully engaged in the business of a major league sports team.

Reporting to theManager,Payroll &Benefits, withdotted linereporting toHR,you will be working as a dedicated member of thePayrollteam. In this newly created role, you will focus on payroll processingand coordination of benefits, ensuringaccurateandtimelypay for our team members across Canada and the U.S.The successfulcandidatewill become proficient inpayroll systems and compliance,and all aspects of employeebenefits..

Key Responsibilities

  • Main point of contact for benefits related mattersfor all employees
  • Managethe full cycle of benefits portal updates for new hires anddepartingemployeeswith support from Human Resources team
  • Assistemployees with enrolling in retirement savings plans,
  • Processing employee life events and status changes promptly
  • Managing relationships with third-party vendors for billing and issue resolution
  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately andtimely
  • Reviews hoursreports, prepares discrepancy reports, andverifiesthat all hours and other data have been accurately input.Downloads the information for payroll processing weekly
  • Prepares a variety of reports forManagerto aid in the tracking of and verification of pay
  • Assistsin the resolution of pay discrepancies
  • Reconcile payroll before transmission andvalidateconfirmed reports
  • Understand proper withholding tax ondifferent typesof payments
  • Execute time and attendance processing andinterface withpayroll
  • Processaccurateandtimelyyear-end reporting when necessary
  • Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed

Qualifications (what we look for)

  • Post-secondary education in a related field
  • Experience with Dayforceand ADPisa strong asset
  • Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills
  • 1-2 years ofexperience processing Canadian payroll, experience processing US payroll is a strong asset
  • 1-2 years of benefits administration experience (health, dental, pension, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Time and Attendance systems
  • Strong knowledge of government regulationsand ESA
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • High attention to detail; strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Advanced Excel, excellent computer skills
  • Canadian Payroll Association designation preferred

This role falls within abasesalary range of $52,200to $80,000annually, consistent with the organizations established salary ranges. Salary ranges aredeterminedthrough a wide variety of factors including but not limited to market data, internal equity, education, relevant experience, knowledge, and applicable skillset.
