Field Service Technician Heavy Equipment

Job Summary

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Field Service Technician to join our dynamic team. The role of Field Service Technician requires one to diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment in the field. This role requires strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills, along with the ability to work independently at customer sites while delivering excellent service and minimizing equipment downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy equipment including (but not limited to) construction, earthmoving, mining, or industrial machinery
  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections to ensure equipment reliability and safety
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and engine systems
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic software
  • Respond to service calls in a timely and professional manner
  • Accurately document work performed, parts used, and service reports
  • Communicate findings and repair recommendations to customers and service management
  • Operate service vehicles and maintain tools and inventory
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Support shop repairs as needed when not in the field

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical school or associate degree preferred
  • 3+ years of experience servicing heavy equipment (construction, agricultural or industrial)
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and powertrains
  • Experience with diagnostic tools and service software
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to travel locally/regionally and work flexible hours, including overtime as needed

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • OEM training or certifications
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Experience with emissions systems (Tier 4 / EPA compliant engines)
  • Customer-facing service experience

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
  • Ability to stand, kneel, climb, and work around heavy machinery
