We are currently recruiting for our client in the Fergus area. This position has potential for permanent long-term employment. We are seeking an experienced and self-directed Quality Manager to lead and oversee our Quality Management System (QMS) across two facilities in Fergus and Guelph. This individual will manage quality inspectors, maintain and improve quality systems, and drive continuous improvement initiatives as the organization grows.
Location: Fergus, ON (primary) with regular travel to Guelph, ON
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (flexibility required)
Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 (based on experience and expertise)
Benefits: Eligible after 6 months; 2 weeks vacation
This is a key leadership role requiring a candidate who can operate independently, as there is currently no incumbent in this position. The successful candidate must be confident in managing a QMS, implementing certifications, and communicating effectively with both leadership and shop-floor personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and manage quality inspectors at both Fergus and Guelph facilities
- Maintain and improve the company's Quality Management System
- Lead implementation and maintenance of certifications and standards, including:
- ISO 9001
- CSA N299
- CSA W59 (Less emphasis on AS9100)
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement approved initiatives
- Support daily inspection operations and provide technical guidance as needed
- Report regularly to senior management on quality performance, plans, and progress
- Assist in achieving:
- ISO 9001 certification at the fabrication plant
- N299.3 compliance (and eventual certification) at the fabrication plant
- ISO 9001 certification exists but does not yet include the fabrication plant
- Fabrication plant holds CSA W47.1 and W47.2 certifications
- CNC machining plant complies with elements of AS9100 based on customer requirements
- A comprehensive QMS is already in place but requires further development and alignment
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience managing or supporting a Quality Management System
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, CSA N299, and CSA W59
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Proven ability to plan, implement, and execute quality initiatives
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Welding Supervisor maintains current welding certifications and will provide support in that area
- Travel between Fergus and Guelph is required; travel costs are included in compensation
- This role requires a proactive, self-sufficient individual capable of building structure and driving improvements without formal training in the role
