The Opportunity
As the Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk, you will be a skilled, detail-oriented and collaborative team player responsible for managing financial transactions and maintaining accurate records for our companys accounts payable and accounts receivable. You will report directly to the Senior Accountant/Controller and work closely with staff, management, and external partners, including vendors.
Responsibilities
- Enter invoices in accounting system for payments ensuring correct approval, coding and matching of POs.
- Reconcile vendor statements, resolve discrepancies, and communicate with vendors regarding payment related matters.
- Enter receipts and reconciling credit card statements for all departments.
- Paying vendors in a timely manner through ACH and cheque payments.
- Reconciling POs and invoices in a timely manner.
- Record cash receipts and prepare weekly deposits.
- Generate and analyze accounts receivable aging reports to identify overdue accounts and take appropriate collection actions.
- Contact customers to follow up on outstanding invoices and coordinate payment arrangements or resolve billing disputes.
- Updating monthly projection files for all departments.
- Complete any other work-related tasks as required by your supervisor.
- Model appropriate behaviours in line with the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswicks mission, vision and values; establishes rapport and maintains effective relationship building behaviour with staff, volunteers and members.
- Represent the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick in a professional manner both in terms of relationships and documents circulated.
- Understand and integrate the value of philanthropy and volunteerism.
- Self manage personal professional development and work that needs to be completed
Skills and Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with one to two years of accounts payable or general accounting experience
- Strong working knowledge of Excel and Word
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communications skills, and previous experience working with senior management
- Be flexible and adaptable, understand the overall goals of the team and actively seek to help achieve them.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work items with minimum direction.
- Strong time management, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Employment is contingent on having a clean Criminal Record Check

- Competitive Compensation: $32,552 $40,000.
