The Role

As a result of our robust growth, we are adding a Net Production Supervisor to our team of professionals. The Net Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing floor staff engaged in the repair, alteration, and construction of aquaculture nets, tarps, and grid components. This role ensures adherence to quality standards, efficient workflow, and compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Reporting to the Senior Production Manager.

Responsibilities:

Main Functions

  • Supervise production activities including QC of new nets, sewing, repair, splicing, hanging, and other related services.
  • Create, print, and distribute work orders from the Asset Management database, ensuring accurate completion of status updates, material and supply usage, hours worked, repair results, measurements, and comments.
  • Participate in training programs and identify opportunities to improve workforce capabilities to meet production standards.
  • Monitor and enforce SOP compliance for repair, new construction, sewing and splicing, QC of new nets, weighing, tagging, wrapping, measuring, cleaning, and general housekeeping.

Daily Duties

  • Provide guidance to QA staff to meet repair targets and monitor KPIs.
  • Set duties and expectations for QA staff during off shifts, including staging nets, preparing work orders, and ensuring materials are available.
  • Assign staff to production areas in pairs.
  • Verify real-time data entry into productivity reports.
  • Audit daily production reports for accuracy and address variances.
  • Ensure proper shift hand-offs and maintain attendance records.
  • Record work logs on company payroll platform.

Weekly Duties

  • Coordinate with Production Preparation Coordinator and yard/inventory staff to ensure correct nets and materials are available.
  • Manage and monitor the volunteer program.

Other Duties

  • Orient and train new employees to GMG standards and SOPs.
  • Assist in creating and updating SOPs for new or existing processes.
  • Conduct performance evaluations: new hires, annual evaluations for floor staff, assist with QA evaluations.
  • Perform seasonal net observations for repair standards and resource planning.
  • Collaborate with Production Manager and HR on employee compliance issues.
  • Promote health and safety in the workplace.
  • Attend scheduled training and production meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with site-specific WHMIS training.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Working Conditions:

  • Varied working environments (indoor/outdoor).
  • Shift rotations: 12-hour shifts (3 on/2 off, 2 on/3 off) or Monday–Friday (8:00–4:30), subject to staffing needs.
  • Occasional heavy lifting or pulling.
  • Additional hours as required.

Employee Requirements:

  • Knowledge of aquaculture net repair and production processes.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Strong training, organizational, and judgment skills.
  • Attention to detail and initiative.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
