Position Summary and Scope of Service
Reporting to the Manager and consistent with the mission, values and policies of St.Amant, the Communications Coordinator is a critical role in ensuring the success of St.Amant business and operations.
Exemplifying the mission, vision and values of St.Amant, the Communications Coordinator works collaboratively with partnered programs while offering employees respectful customer service. They are responsible for planning and implementing effective digital communications strategy and ongoing evaluation for St.Amant (including the Research Centre) and supporting the St.Amant Foundation communications plans.
The focus of this position is on external communications that will ensure that the general public and other audiences are fully aware of St.Amant's news, information, programs and services, while also advocating and elevating the perception of people labelled with intellectual disability. This position also focuses on internal communication between all program areas and the over 2,000 employees and volunteers that work with St.Amant. This position is critical to supporting a positive, transparent and compassionate culture experienced by staff in the organization.

Qualifications
Education:
- Grade XII or recognized equivalent
- Diploma or degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Public Administration or other related field
Professional:
- One year related experience preferred
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills
- Demonstrated social media literacy and experience with website updates and newsletter platforms
- Experience Google Analytics, Meta Business, LinkedIn and other digital advertising platforms
- Experience with Google Business or Google for Nonprofits considered an asset
- Experience with A/V production (livestreaming, video work)
- Basic knowledge of graphic design principles and Creative Cloud Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Canva, etc.)
- Previous experience interacting with the media is preferred
- Previous experience negotiating and buying advertising is an asset
- Previous experience in special events an asset
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in the use of various common software applications, which may include, but is not limited to: word processing, publishing, database, internet, email applications
- Excellent marketing skills to promote and raise the profile of St.Amant and the St.Amant Foundation
Personal:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, with French skills considered a definite asset
- Excellent planning, organizational and problem solving skills
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills
- Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills
- Must successfully complete a Criminal Record Check and a Child Abuse Registry Check
- Must be flexible and able to work within a schedule of events

Duties and Responsibilities
Program/Service Support
Consistent with the Mission, Philosophy and Policies of St.Amant, the Communications Coordinator executes a communications strategy that uses a combination of digital and traditional channels to increase visibility of St.Amant, St.Amant Foundation and its various programs.
Quality services are evident when professional communication, timeliness, accuracy, ethical awareness/sensitivity, confidentiality are consistently demonstrated as required by legislation and program/service standards.
Duties include:
- Plans, organizes, implements and evaluates any effective communications strategy for St.Amant (including the Research Centre) and St.Amant Foundation, demonstrating unified efforts as well as continuity
- Develops and nurtures a culture of story-telling that will help St.Amant and St.Amant Foundation meet its strategic goals
- Plans, storyboards, writes, films and edits video and digital platforms
- General photography to accompany stories and to support event production
- Contributes to promoting St.Amant brand and logo
- Contributes to website design and content and monitors digital media for mentions of St.Amant to protect reputation and identify opportunities to engage with stakeholders.
- Assists with managing St.Amant intranet content
- Assists with managing social media presence
- Develops and produces corporate communication information and other communications materials (i.e. newsletters, brochures, news releases, annual reports, direct mail, newspaper inserts, advertising, etc.)
- Supports all program and service areas with communication services
- Leads or assists with communications related special projects as requested
- Conducts interviews and capture video and/or photo to support articles for newsletters, recruitment campaigns, annual reports, town halls, etc.
- Leads or assists with fundraising activities or special events as requested
- Adheres to all safety and health policies, regulations and safe work practices

As a Condition of Employment, successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening, Adult Abuse Registry Check, Child Abuse Registry Check and Prior Contact Check.
As a Condition of Employment, new hires must complete a series of Occupational Health checks. This includes the requirement to confirm immunization or immunity of specific communicable diseases.
