Senior Director, International Tax Strategy
Remote (Global)
CFO (with strategic collaboration with CEO and Director of Finance) or other as designated by Management
WHL Holdings is a multifaceted global holding company with an expanding international footprint across multiple jurisdictions. The business manages several legal entities, cross-border commercial relationships and inter-company agreements, and maintains partnerships with leading external advisors in tax, transfer pricing, legal, accounting, and corporate governance.
We are considering both full time employees and part time (~80 hours per month) consultants for this position.
The Senior Director of International Tax Strategy will play a critical leadership role in overseeing, coordinating, and managing the company's global tax strategy, compliance activities, transfer pricing frameworks, documentation standards, and advisor network across multiple countries.
The Senior Director of International Tax Strategy will be responsible for leading and coordinating all cross-border tax strategy, planning, compliance, documentation, transfer pricing frameworks, and advisor management for WHL Holdings and affiliated entities as well as personal tax matters for the shareholders. The Group of Companies have a complex and evolving structure. This role will ensure structure integrity, documentation accuracy, filing timeliness, jurisdictional compliance, and proper implementation and maintenance of all international tax and transfer pricing frameworks.
The successful candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for all external advisors, drive accountability, draft and review agreements, maintain company compliance calendars, and implement governance frameworks to support ongoing tax optimization, risk mitigation, and financial efficiency.
Strategic Advisory Coordination & Leadership
Act as the main representative for WHL Holdings on all calls with external tax, legal, and transfer pricing advisors across all jurisdictions.
Manage all service providers, including tax lawyers, international tax advisors, accountants, transfer pricing specialists, and corporate governance partners.
Ensure collaboration, documentation consistency, and cross-jurisdictional alignment across all professional firms.
Lead drafting and updating of all inter-company agreements, restructuring documentation, corporate resolutions, and related supporting schedules.
Maintain centralized digital repository for all legal, tax, and transfer-pricing documents, filings, and historical records.
Ensure completion, storage, and regulatory compliance of corporate minute books and Board-related materials across jurisdictions.
Develop and maintain a global compliance calendar covering all jurisdictions and entities.
Ensure no filing deadlines, corporate meetings, reporting requirements, or payment obligations are missed.
Coordinate implementation of OECD guidelines, cross-border tax rules, IFRS/GAAP considerations, and BEPS compliance.
Support creation, documentation, and annual updates of transfer pricing studies and related benchmarking documents.
Oversee monitoring and documentation of inter company charges, salaries, fees, cost allocations, and cross-border cash movement.
Track and manage all income tax refunds and ensure timely submission, escalation, and follow-up.
Work closely with internal finance leadership to ensure payments, distributions, and salaries are executed accurately and on schedule.
Initiate first-drafts of agreements based on guidance from advisors and implement final versions upon approval.
Coordinate information flow between internal executives, advisory firms, and jurisdictional regulators.
Potential Additional Responsibilities - Sales Tax
Additional consideration may given to candidates who also have experience working with HST, VAT and / or Sales Tax
CPA designation (CPA, CA, or equivalent in home jurisdiction), JD, LL.B or equivalent.
Minimum 10 years combined experience, including 5+ years directly managing teams or external professional service vendors, and 5+ years of international tax experience.
Demonstrated experience managing multinational taxable structures, inter-company transactions, and multi-jurisdiction tax planning.
Strong knowledge of:
OECD guidelines & BEPS
IFRS/GAAP reporting frameworks
Transfer pricing methodologies and documentation
Corporate governance, cross-border holding-company structuring
Proven track record managing external legal and accounting professionals with strong leadership and execution discipline.
Exceptional organizational, written communication, and project-management capabilities.
Top-tier international advisory firm and / or Family Office experience.
Experience working with multiple jurisdictions such as Italy, Canada, United States, Barbados, Cayman Islands or similar.
Demonstrated ability to manage high-sensitivity, confidential, and executive-level information.
Ability to operate independently with urgency and accountability in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
