Boat Technician - Electrical (Ref 12_25)

Zodiac Hurricane Technologies has an immediate opening for Boat Technician - Electrical in our Assembly Department. This position is permanent, full-time working Monday through Friday starting at 6am for a 40 hours work week with opportunities for overtime.

We are seeking individuals with a positive mindset and an attention to detail to join our team. Candidates must be willing to work hard in a fast-paced team environment and under pressure to meet deadlines with the knowledge and experience working with 12 volt DC, 120/140 shore power and marine electrical systems.

Tasks include assembly of various components by hand to complete a product that meets ISO 9001 quality standards. Your own set of hand tools and steel toe boots are required. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Reading and following electrical schematics and drawing instructions for assembly of boat consoles using 12 volt DC, 120/140 shore power with marine electrical systems knowledge
• Installation of electrical and Electronic Instruments.
• AC and DC control panel wiring, installation of circuit breakers, and relays.
• Installation of battery chargers and converters
• Installation and maintenance of lighting circuit, A/C unit, heating system and generators.
• Testing, repair, maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical and electronic circuits.
• Interfacing of electronic circuits.
• Installation and maintenance of navigation and communication systems.
• Using hand tools and power tools to complete work and tasks assigned with time restraints in mind
• Ensuring the consoles are assembled within the standards of workmanship and meeting quality requirements.
• Following and understanding the direction and instructions of supervisors and team leaders while working independently and collaboratively with fellow team members, supervisors, and engineers
• Attaining daily quality work and delivery targets through standardized work
• Following company standard requirements and adhering to policies and procedures on safety and quality protocols
• Maintaining a clean and orderly work area
• Completing paperwork as needed

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum of two (2) years' Marine electrical experience is required
• Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
• knowledge of/experience working with 12 volt DC, 120/140 shore power and marine electrical systems is an asset
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently
• Knowledge in navigation systems
• Must have attention to detail
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Fluent in reading, writing and speaking English
• Strong organizational skills and the desire and ability to learn new things
• Capable of problem solving and decision making
• Experience assembling and building products using hand and power tools is an asset
• American Boat and Yacht Council certification (ABYC) is an asset, but not required
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Experience working in manufacturing environment is an asset
