This position will be responsible for supporting both inside sales and outside sales for the Edmonton area, as well as purchasing. Prior valve industry experience is required.

Sales Responsibilities

Responsible for all inside sales tasks, including quoting, order entry, liaising with the shop, and post-order customer service.

  • Maintain existing customer relationships and develop new prospective customer relationships.
  • Quote and order entry on inbound calls, messages, and emails. All quotes to be entered into Modman so tracking quotes is accurate.
  • Regular calls on customers within targeted areas identified by Vice President to introduce and promote GCM and turn in a call report every Monday AM
  • Interface with production team to understand capabilities and deliveries.
  • Follow up on quotes and solicit feedback from customers.
  • Assist management with identifying deficiencies in our shop capabilities that prevent GCM from winning orders.
  • Enter work orders, review, and approve work orders.
  • Contact customers and resolve any discrepancies on orders.
  • Track work orders through production and notify customer of any production issues, when appropriate.
  • Answer customer service questions and resolve disputes.
  • Periodically review pricing to ensure alignment with market prices.
  • Assist in special projects related to customer service, sales, and/or marketing.
  • Develop and maintain Vendor relationships.

Outside Sales Responsibilities

Responsible for assisting the Outside Sales Representative (OSR) and the Vice President (VP) as needed.

  • Identifying accounts with growth potential. Prepare for site visits by reviewing open quotes and order history.
  • Entertaining and growing local relationships where existing customer relationships exist.

Purchasing

Responsible for assisting with all purchasing and inventory management tasks, whether performed themselves, or by another employee in the department.

  • Purchasing any raw materials, inventory parts, general shop supplies as needed on a daily basis. Look for opportunities to drive cost down without sacrificing quality.
  • Monitor common supplies and vendor lead times to ensure adequate and timely supply to meet deadlines for customer orders.
  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Communicate purchasing problems to shop leadership, identify alternative solutions that are readily available when supply issues arise.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Three to seven years of sales experience at a valve modification facility, valve manufacturer, or valve distributor.
  • Familiarity with valve specifications and modifications processes is required.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to multitask and manage quotes, orders, and customer inquiries efficiently.
