Back End Developer (AI/RAG/Agentic)

We are seeking a talented Backend Software Developer to join our team. This role is remote, ideally based in the Vancouver area, but not required. As a consultant, you will enjoy enhanced benefits while contributing to innovative projects in AI and building systems engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend software for a cloud-based tool supporting engineering building systems, providing digital twin style support.
• Develop features for data collection, analysis, and AI-based decision-making for building HVAC design.
• Utilize Bedrock within AWS to create agents that interact with the system.
• Employ Lambda and EKS for infrastructure as code.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Strong proficiency in writing clean, modular, and maintainable code.
• Excellent code structure and quality practices.
• Solid understanding of software architecture and the ability to design reusable and scalable solutions.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Proficient in handling merge conflicts and Git workflows.
• Experience with unit testing, test coverage, and mocking frameworks like pytest.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices.
• Ability to conduct code reviews and adhere to best practices for collaborative development.
• Minimum of 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proven track record of delivering production systems.
• Comfortable working independently and making architectural decisions.
• Strong communication skills for explaining design choices and documenting work.
• Ability to estimate effort and effectively break down tasks.

• Experience with AI, Agentic, Building Automation, HVAC, and Industrial Controls.

This position offers the flexibility to work remotely with an emphasis on collaborative development. Our infrastructure utilizes cutting-edge AWS technologies, including Bedrock, Lambda, and EKS, to support agile and efficient development practices.
