We are currently seeking a Corporate Tax Associate to join our corporate accounting team of dedicated professionals to support our high-volume, process-driven dealership group and our 3,000+ employees.

Purpose/Summary of Position:

The Corporate Tax Associate will assist in the preparation and review of corporate tax returns, preparation of the quarterly corporate tax provisions, ensuring compliance with tax laws, advising the Corporate and Dealership accounting teams on tax strategies, CRA access management, and conducting tax research. Additional responsibilities will include assisting with analyzing financial records, identifying tax liabilities, minimizing tax obligations through strategies like deductions, and assisting with audits.

The Corporate Tax Associate will also have an opportunity to work with and support the other members of the Corporate Accounting team throughout the year on special projects and other adhoc tasks.

This role involves strong analytical skills, knowledge of tax regulations, and excellent team communication.

What You Will Do:

  • Tax preparation and compliance: Prepare and file corporate tax returns; ensure all tax filings are accurate and meet federal and provincial regulations (including excise taxes (GST/HST/PST), luxury tax, safe income and EIFEL).
  • Tax research and advice: Research complex tax issues, legislation, and rulings to provide advice and support to the Corporate and Dealership accounting teams.
  • Financial analysis: Analyze corporate financial information, including income statements and expenditures, to identify areas for tax savings and ensure compliance.
  • Team interaction: Communicate with the Dealership accounting teams to review their financial information, answer questions, and advise them on their tax obligations.
  • Audit assistance: Assist with Corporate and Dealership tax audits by gathering necessary financial documentation and communicating with tax authorities.
  • Record-keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and financial databases.
  • Acquisitions: Provide the acquisition team with assistance with tax due diligence and support for integrations.
  • Staying updated: Keep abreast of changes in tax laws, regulations, and accounting practices to ensure ongoing compliance and provide current advice

Required Qualifications:

  • CPA designation or equivalent preferred, but all non-designated candidates with relevant experience will be considered
  • University or College degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of progressive experience in corporate tax.
  • Experience with TaxPrep software, Caseware, ERP systems (e.g., Quickbooks) and DMS systems (e.g. CDK, Reynolds&Reynolds) an asset.
  • Proficiency with Excel is required.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in tax filings and financial analysis.

Place of Work:

This is an onsite role and the expectation is that the individual will work primarily from the office along with the rest of the Corporate Accounting team. However, we offer flexibility and will accommodate remote work as necessary.
