Responsibilities:
- Title & Ownership Cleanup
- Review and verify surface, mineral, contracts, and joint interest ownership records for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure chain of title is clear, identifying and resolving title defects or discrepancies.
- Reconcile ownership changes related to acquisitions, divestitures, and assignments.
- Lease & Agreement Management
- Validate lease terms, expirations, obligations, and working interest (WI) changes and update in appropriate systems.
- Ensure Joint Operating Agreements (JOAs), farmouts, and participation agreements are accurately recorded.
- Standardize lease and agreement descriptions, removing duplicate or outdated records.
- GIS & Mapping Integration
- Cross-check tract, lease, and JV acreage against GIS mapping and legal descriptions.
- Ensure AMI (Area of Mutual Interest) boundaries and working interests are correctly allocated.
- Flag and resolve survey discrepancies for surface and subsurface rights.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in land, A&D, or joint venture analysis within oil & gas.
- Post-secondary education in Surface Land Administration, Business, Finance, Paralegal Studies, or a related field.
- Familiarity with Alberta regulatory frameworks (CER, AER, AEP, AUC), land tenure systems, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and land systems such as CS Explorer, DDS, ETS SPIN2, AccuMap, GeoScout, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
