(DCW1)

WHATS THE OPPORTUNITY?
We have a new and exciting opportunity for afull-time,5-month ContractResidential Support Worker (DCW1)to join our Family Supports team! In this role you will be providing emotional and practical support to thepregnant and parenting youth and their childreninour programs.This is atemporarypilot projectunder OPSEU Local 258.

WHAT YOULL BE DOING:
- Supportpregnant and parenting youth and their childrenwitha variety of life challenges includingliving with mental health issues and trauma.
- Assess the individual strengths of eachprogram participantsand use them as a foundation on which to build individual success.
- Develop strong, supportive relationships withthe participantsand their children that foster a sense of relational safety.
- Work in collaboration withthePregnant and Parenting Team and community partners to ensure programs and services are responsiveand seamless.
- Provide welcoming and inclusive spaces
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR:
- Degree or diploma of an accredited University or College with a major in Social Work, Child and Youth Work, Counselling or other social science or health related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years' experience working withyouth and young children ideallypregnant and parenting youth
- Demonstrated knowledge of perinatal mental wellness, infant and early childhood development and parent-child attachment.
- Current certification in Standard CPR/First Aid
- Strongunderstanding of strategies to support youthin the areas ofmental health, addictions and trauma, infant development, and community resources.
- Ability to build rapport with vulnerable individuals.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, ability to clearly present information and ensure information is documented accurately
ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD KNOW?
- This isaFull-TimeContractrolefor approximately5monthsthat requiresshifts whichare primarilyscheduled duringdaytime hoursandwill include occasional evenings and Saturdays depending onprogramsneeds.
- Satisfactory Police Check with Vulnerable Sector check isrequired.
- Must be able to provide either proof of vaccination or documentation providing a satisfactory reason under the Ontario Human Rights Code for not being vaccinated.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Wage: $24.81. This includes a $3.00 per hour wage subsidy. DCW1 wage grid placement.
