The Head of Solutions & Engineering is responsible for leading a team that develops and designs major electrical projects as well as small-scale and innovative pilots. The Head will support early engagement with clients, understanding requirements, and aligning their needs to viable electrical solutions, working hand in hand with the sales teams. This position serves as PowerON's senior technical authority, responsible for setting engineering standards, ensuring design integrity and quality, and coordinating compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Post-concept, the Head is responsible for a team of engineering designers, developers, consultants and estimators that are responsible for project development, design, and standards across the PowerON portfolio. Additionally, the Head will lead the technical development of innovative product offerings and design approaches to differentiate PowerON from competitors.

A key player on PowerON's management team, you will lead PowerON's strategic technical direction, and be responsible for the teams developing and designing energy solutions for large business and institutional customers looking to install electrical infrastructure at a megawatt scale to support electric vehicle charging, battery storage systems, solar PV, decarbonized HVAC systems, and power generation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead development of early-stage project design concepts, cost estimation and proposal development based on client needs and site conditions.

  • Provide support to the sales team on outreach and assist with sales efforts.

  • Work with clients to develop electric vehicle adoption roadmaps

  • Oversee, direct and validate engineering and technical analysis, including management of consultants, advisors, and coordination with clients and external agencies, driving value engineering to improve constructability, cost efficiency, and lifecycle performance.

  • Serve as PowerON's primary technical counterpart to client and utility companies' engineering departments and Chief Engineers, defending design integrity and ensuring alignment with technical standards and expectations.

  • Make recommendations on growth opportunities for the business by conducting technical, financial, and commercial analyses of potential opportunities.

  • Lead innovation projects to ensure PowerON stays at the forefront of the industry.

  • Build and maintain integrity and confidence, communicate with external clients and internal team members.

  • Stay abreast of new technologies in the electrification space and provide external thought leadership by attending and participating in conferences and forums.

  • Provide strategic technical input into procurement specifications, vendor prequalification, and technology selection to ensure optimal technical and commercial outcomes.

  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University Degree in Engineering, electrical engineering preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in project development and design engineering.

  • Active Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license in Ontario considered an asset, but direct stamping responsibilities are not required.

  • Strong technical knowledge of EV charging, battery storage and other electrical equipment as well as integrated energy management systems with an understanding of how their design and sizing impact overall electrical architecture and single-line diagrams.

  • Experience developing project cost estimates

  • Strong business acumen to develop profitable projects, conceptualize new business opportunities and contribute to PowerON's business strategy.

  • Ability to balance deep technical oversight with strategic leadership and business development needs.

  • Excellent communication skills to interact with customers and leadership skills to motivate your team.
