Mechanical Designer

Our client, a leader in the retail industry, is looking for a Mechanical Designer to join their team on a long term basis.

Job Description

Design and develop detailed mechanical designs for cosmetic displays using CAD software. Innovate solutions for plastic injection molding and sheet metal fabrication, ensuring designs meet aesthetic, functional, and manufacturability requirements.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed mechanical designs for cosmetic displays using CAD software.
• Develop innovative solutions for plastic injection molding
• Ensure designs meet aesthetic, functional, and manufacturability requirements.
• Utilize knowledge of plastic injection molding processes to design components that are cost-effective and manufacturable.
• Apply sheet metal fabrication techniques to create durable and visually appealing display structures.
• Conduct feasibility studies and material selection for new projects.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including marketing, production, and quality assurance to ensure design intent is maintained throughout the manufacturing process.
• Communicate effectively with suppliers and manufacturers to resolve technical issues and optimize production processes.
• Implement design changes based on test results and feedback from stakeholders.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation for production.
• Maintain accurate records of design iterations and project progress.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions.

MUST HAVE

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, specifically in plastic injection molding.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Familiarity with PDM.
• Knowledge of GD&T.

Work Environment

The position is based in an office environment with an 8-5 pm shift. The engineer will have their own design station and will also spend time on the shop floor to interface with assembly and production staff. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr.
