TheSenior Accountantis responsible for supporting the dealerships financial and accounting operations while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all processes. This role reports directly to the Controller and works closely with the management teams to provide financial insight and guidance. The Senior Accountant also supports the CFO in advancing business initiatives, contributing to strategic decision-making, and ensuring the dealerships overall financial health.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Controller on managing the dealerships financial and accounting systems, staff, and daily operations.
- Performs tasks to ensure that financial functions are reconciled monthly, including, but not limited to cash, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accounts payable, manufacturer statements, vehicle deal commissioning, intercompany accounts, and payroll accounts.
- Meet internal and external deadlines on monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets, forecasts, reporting, and analysis.
- Collaborate on monthly reporting and year-end financial statements.
- Execute payroll with the Payroll Manager to ensure compliance and implementation of best practices.
- Support department managers to review business performance and assist in developing action plans to increase profitability.
- Collaborate on financial analysis of individual dealerships/operations and present to the executive team.
- Ensure financial and accounting practices are compliant and aligned with internal policies and procedures.
- Coach, mentor, and train and cross-train accounting associates to support professional growth and team effectiveness.

Qualifications:
- CPA designation required
- Minimum 2 years of progressive post-designation experience, preferably in the automotive industry
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of payroll processing and payroll processing software.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership.
- Strong analytical ability with a detail-oriented, self-motivated, and resourceful approach.
- Demonstrated diplomacy, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
Logistical Requirements:
This is a full-time position at Dueck Auto Group with the head office located at 400 SE Marine Drive. The position may require working extended hours, including weekends, in order to meet deadlines based on the needs of the business. Professional attire is required (business casual dress code).
