Distribution Engineer

Job Description

Our client was established in 2020 by two seasoned professionals with over a decade of experience in electrical power engineering and consulting, is dedicated to delivering high-quality engineering services to Transmission and Distribution companies, as well as private clients. We are currently seeking a Distribution Engineer or Designer to support BC Hydro projects, primarily focused on the Pole Replacement Program. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to critical infrastructure upgrades while working alongside a dynamic and experienced team. The ideal candidate will be either a graduate from a Tech program or engineering and will have at least a year of Pole Design experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and support pole replacement projects for BC Hydro's distribution network
• Utilize AutoCAD and SpidaCalc for drafting and structural analysis
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project accuracy and efficiency
• Apply knowledge of utility standards and distribution engineering principles

Essential Skills

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Designer or EIT in electrical distribution
• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• Graduate from BCIT or an accredited Engineering program
• Prior involvement in Fortis projects

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with PLS-CADD

Technical Skills

• AutoCAD
• Electrical and distribution design

• Pole design and structural analysis
• PLS-CADD (preferred)
• Familiarity with Fortis standards

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $38.00/hr.
