POSITION SUMMARY
A CNC Press Brake Operatorsets up and operates a computer-controlled press brake to bend, cut, and form sheet metal according to blueprints and specifications. Key duties include programming the machine, selecting and installing the correct tooling, performing quality checks with measuring tools, and performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on the equipment. Safety and maintaining a clean, compliant workspace are also crucial responsibilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Machine setup and programming: Read blueprints and technical drawings to understand job specifications, program the CNC press brake, and select the correct tooling for the material and bends required.
Operations: Safely and efficiently operate the press brake to bend and form sheet metal, ensuring proper alignment and positioning of materials.
Quality Control: inspect finished parts using measuring tools like calipers and micrometers to ensure they meet dimensional and quality specifications.
Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on the press brake to ensure it is in good working order and make minor repairs as needed.
Troubleshooting: Identify and correct errors in programming or operation that occur during the manufacturing process.
Safety and compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, wear appropriate person protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean and organized work area.- Other responsibilities and duties, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High School Diploma
- Successful completion of a CNC Press Brake Training Program.
Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in reading AutoCAD documents.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Microsoft Office, Excel and Web applications. Google G-Suite preferred.
Other Experience or Training:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in operating and programming CNC machinery.
- Familiarity with various types of metal and their properties.
- Experience using precision measuring tools, such as calipers and micrometers.
- Knowledge of machine setup, including selecting and installing tooling.
- Problem-solving skills for troubleshooting machine issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required and in French are an asset.
- Works in an organized, methodical, and effective manner.
- Able to follow instructions, multi-task and to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Highly motivated with strong organizational, analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities.
- Good knowledge and respect of relevant Health & Safety legislation and respect of job site safety rules is a strong asset.
- Conscientious, proactive and works well under pressure with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of structural steel shapes, sizes and grades
- Basic reading and writing skills
- Able to perform physically demanding work
- Ability to work in cold and hot environments.
- Aptitude in using appropriate tools (cutting saws, torches, drills, material handling equipment, grinders, etc.)
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Must be reliable, punctual, highly organized
- Must have a strong work ethic
- Must be clean-shaven to be able to wear a fitted respirator up to eight hours per day.
- Can lift, carry, move up to 26kg/57lbs without assistance and up to 34kg/75lbs with assistance
- Ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance, which includes passing a criminal record check.
