The Role
We are recruiting for a General Superintendent for a project in Red Deer, AB. The General Superintendent is a key member of the project leadership team, responsible for the overall field execution, coordination, and supervision of multiple construction projects or large-scale work scopes. This role provides direction to site Superintendents and General Foremen, ensuring that all work is performed safely, on schedule, and to quality standards.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee multiple construction sites or large project scopes from mobilization to turnover.
  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure all field operations comply with company and client safety requirements.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance management to site Superintendents, Foremen, and field teams.
  • Coordinate construction activities with project management, engineering, quality, and procurement teams.
  • Monitor progress, manpower, and productivity to ensure schedule and budget compliance.
  • Participate in constructability reviews, planning, and project execution strategy.
  • Review and approve field progress reports, look-aheads, and work plans.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement and contribute to company best practices in construction execution.

Skills/Education/Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive construction experience, including 5+ years in a senior site leadership role (General or Senior Superintendent level).
  • Proven background in industrial, mechanical, structural, or civil construction (oil & gas, mining, or heavy industrial sectors preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, scheduling, cost control, and quality management.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage large field teams and multiple work fronts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-focused approach.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and project documents with high accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction management software; experience with Google Suite considered an asset.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
