Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic, 310T License

Job Summary:

The Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic (310T) is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment, including loaders, excavators, bulldozers, trucks, and other construction or industrial machinery. The ideal candidate ensures equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably, minimizing downtime and maintaining compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues on heavy-duty equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and routine servicing according to manufacturer specifications.
• Repair or replace defective parts, components, and assemblies in engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, and other systems.
• Read and interpret service manuals, schematics, blueprints, and technical documents.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, and parts inventories.
• Test equipment to ensure repairs are completed correctly and machinery operates safely.
• Collaborate with supervisors to prioritize repairs and minimize equipment downtime.
• Operate tools, diagnostic equipment, and machinery safely and efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations at all times.
• Assist with training junior mechanics or apprentices as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Completion of a recognized Heavy Duty Mechanic (310T) apprenticeship or equivalent training.
• Red Seal Certification or provincial certification preferred.
• Minimum of [X] years' experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy equipment components.
• Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong attention to safety and detail.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Physically capable of handling heavy parts and equipment.

Working Conditions:

• Work is primarily in a shop or outdoor environment, exposed to varying weather conditions.
• May involve lifting heavy equipment, standing for long periods, and working in confined spaces.
• On-call or overtime may be required depending on operational needs.
