General Job Description:

This position will report to the TPS Department Supervisor, and with technical direction from engineering, you will be required to work and provide technical support in the development of production methods, systems, and work procedures. The industrial engineering technician will specialize in the development of production processes (plastics). This position is responsible for building structures, implementing Kaizen activities and supporting production with assembly equipment issues.

Duties and Responsibilities

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other Duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. As an Industrial Engineering Technician, you will be able to perform the following duties:

  • Provide technical support in the development of production methods, systems, and work procedures
  • Assist in scheduling and implementing changes based on work measurements
  • Assist in creation and building of WIP storage carts, racks, etc.
  • Assist in creation and building of assembly processes
  • Assist in the development of estimates, schedules, specifications and reports.
  • Modification and troubleshooting of existing assembly processes
  • Assist in the design and implementation of pneumatic systems
  • Assist in compiling operational or experimental data
  • Assist in implementing plant layouts
  • Assist engineers to develop manufacturing and processing procedures and variables
  • Building & maintaining production work stations and storage
  • Assist TPS department with Kaizen (continuous improvement) activities
  • Repair & maintain assembly equipment (Screw feeders, screw drivers, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • Completion of one or two year college program in industrial engineering technology or in a related discipline or
  • Relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Must be mechanically inclined
  • Ability to carry out arithmetical processes quickly and accurately
  • Excellent spatial perception - ability to understand simple 2D drawings
  • Ability to operate machinery and electric tools
  • Must be able to multitask, prioritize work and juggle multiple assignments
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
