Position Overview
We are hiring an experienced Accounting Section Head to lead our accounting division, supervise and coordinate the activities of finance and insurance office staff, and manage a team of accounting technicians. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations, reviewing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and CRA regulations. This is a leadership role that requires strong technical expertise, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to efficiently manage multiple client files. Our diverse clientele includes a dedicated desk for newcomers from Europe; therefore, priority will be given to candidates who can communicate in a foreign language, preferably Hungarian and German. Additionally, preference will be given to applicants who are Canadian citizens, Permanent Residents, or on a valid pathway to Permanent Residency and do not require employer sponsorship.
Main Duties
- Plan, organize, and manage day-to-day accounting operations.
- Implement effective administration processes,
- Ensure office equipment, supplies and materials are maintained and up to date.
- Ensure training of staff on company policy, procedures, processes and company financial software.
- Ensure that CRA compliance is maintained
- Supervise, assign work related schedules, review work.
- Resolve work-related problems.
- Be able to step into any role to assist a client
- Verify the Administering of payrolls, HST filings and remittance submissions
- Verify accuracy and ensure financial documents are recorded.
- Review journal entries, general ledgers, and financial reports.
- Review, prepare and finalize adjusting entries, trial balances, and year-end working papers.
- Oversee corporate and personal tax files.
- Oversee the payments of client fees and payment thereof
- Oversee that insurance claims are verified and claims and forms are accurate.
- Examine and verify accuracy of work and authorize routine payments, credits and other transactions
- Communicate with clients to resolve inquiries and maintain professional relationships.
- Collaborate with management to develop and improve accounting processes, staff and client relationships.

Education and Experience
• College diploma or university degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance or other relevant field of study.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting and leadership experience.
