JOB PURPOSE:

As a member of Fix Autos production team, the Assistant Production Manager plays a key role in ensuring the auto body process is seamless, and the production team members are supported in their roles.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Production Manager is responsible to support the management team in completing all estimating, repair planning and supporting with production management. Supporting the overall back end shop and collaborating with the front end team, the Assistant Production Manager acts as the junior lead with all back end processes. The Assistant Production Manager will have strong attention to detail skills to ensure quality of all products, and have the ability to bring new ideas to the team.

Fitting in with our positive and fast paced work environment, the Assistant Production Manager must be highly organized, able to think outside of the box, prioritize ever changing tasks, communicate clearly and timely, and most importantly, foster an environment for growth and success. Being able to handle stress in a calm manner, proactively finding solutions rather than acting in a reactive state, and collaborating with the Production Manager to support team members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Estimating

  • Write thorough and accurate estimates as per insurance guidelines for all vehicles
  • Work with Claims Processors to ensure estimates and requests are delivered to the customer
  • Identify previous damage and write upsell estimates for customers

Repair Planning

  • Assist in bringing in vehicles to be mapped
  • Mapping vehicles for related and non-related damage
  • Take necessary photos of vehicle before repair
  • Colour match vehicles and add the paint code is listed on the workorder
  • Write all supplements after vehicle disassembly
  • Request to order additional parts on supplements
  • Update the Production Manager on delays or if a file needs to be sent for approval
  • Update production board as necessary

Assistant Production Management

  • Provide guidance to technicians
  • Effectively communicate tasks and timelines to all members of the production team
  • Support the Production Manager in troubleshooting challenges and finding solutions for delays in the production process
  • Quality check all vehicles before delivery
  • Support production meetings and reward employees for successes

Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain a working knowledge of new technology and process improvements to implement
  • Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to OH&S Standards

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Employees may be required to work in potentially hazardous environments requiring personal protective equipment
  • Employees may be exposed to dust, hazardous chemicals and high levels of noise
  • Employees may be exposed to uncomfortable work settings; may have long combinations of standing, crouching, or sitting
  • Repetitive tasks within a fast-paced environment
  • Overtime as required

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

EDUCATION

Post Secondary focusing on Business is considered an asset

EXPERIENCE

3-5 years experience in the auto body industry is considered an asset

Leadership experience in a similar role

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Customer service and professionalism skills

Highly knowledge of the auto body industry and vehicle damage

Ability to support a team of multiple personalities

Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure

Highly organized

Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically and professionally at all times
