Key responsibilities will include:
- Prepare, analyze, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports;
- Complete the annual budget process;
- Manage trust and general bank accounts, lines of credit, corporate credit cards, and required bank reporting;
- Ensure compliance with BC Law Society rules and reporting requirements (TAF, trust reports, trust audits) and maintain accurate trust accounting;
- Payroll administration including benefits, pension, vacation, sick time, etc.;
- Oversee all accounting processes including payables, receivables, billing, trust and general deposits, reconciliations, etc.;
- Support individual shareholder corporations with accounting and reporting needs;
- Administer GST, PST, and corporate tax filings;
- Additional adhoc projects and special assignments as needed.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in accounting, bookkeeping, or related field;
- Strong accounting or bookkeeping experience, including trust accounting, payroll, and benefits administration;
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Soluno, Sage, Ceridian) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook);
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting considered an asset;
- Knowledge of GAAP, CRA requirements, and BC Law Society accounting rules and standards;
- Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to manage confidential information;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on internal customer service;
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and solve problems proactively;
- Professional and perceptive, with a high sense of urgency when required;
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
This is currently an in-office role with a four day work week, however other arrangements would be considered for the right candidate. The position offers a competitive wage of $32–$36/hour, benefits after three months and access to the pension plan after one year.
