Position Summary:
The Fibre Service Technician (FST) Supervisor reports to the Deployment Manager and is responsible for overseeing field operations. This role ensures the efficient coordination of technicians, timely completion of work, and swift resolution of network or customer incidents. The FST Supervisor also provides consistent updates during emergency situations and maintains high standards of performance, safety, and customer experience.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Operations:
Prioritize and assign daily duties to the FST team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
Prepare and manage daily/weekly work schedules in coordination with Order Coordinators and the Deployment Manager.
Coordinate the dispatch of FSTs for customer installations, cross-connects, cabinet setups, racking equipment, and cabling tasks, providing assistance as needed.
Ensure team members adhere to all company standards, procedures, and health & safety policies.
Support onsite troubleshooting, including power cycles, reboots, cable testing/replacement, and device handling.
Oversee training, coaching, personal development, and motivation of FST team members.
Manage tools, PPE, and other safety equipment, ensuring they are in proper working order.
Track and monitor daily task progress and communicate updates to relevant teams.
Network and Incident Management:
Execute procedures to maintain network stability during maintenance or upgrade activities.
Support FSTs in minimizing downtime during emergency incidents and optimizing response efficiency.
Assist with escalated customer-facing issues, working closely with other teams for resolution and root cause analysis.
Identify patterns or events that could lead to technical challenges.
Administrative Duties:
Provide accurate and timely reports (daily, weekly, monthly, as required).
Monitor tickets to ensure correct information is reported and updated.
Review and approve Accident & Incident Investigation Reports.
General:
Participate in On-Call rotations as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications:
High school diploma; post-secondary diploma or degree in Business, Technology, or Communications is an asset.
3–5 years of relevant industry experience.
1–2 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of field operations, fibre network installation, and maintenance.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
