PACT (Pearson Accelerator Construction Team) is a General Partnership of Alberici, Amico, Kenaidan, and Obayashi, supported by design partners Egis, Mott MacDonald, and Weston Williamson + Partners. Together, we are delivering Accelerator, a major program of Pearson LIFT (Long-term Investment in Facilities and Terminals), Toronto Pearson's infrastructure development plan. This multi-year program is designed to address immediate passenger growth demands while preparing Canadas largest airport for the future of air travelincluding critical upgrades to airfield and infrastructure, greenhouse gas reduction initiatives, modernization of Terminals 1 and 3, and the creation of a world-class passenger experience.
JOB SUMMARY
As the Design Change Manager Airfield, you will play a pivotal role in managing and coordinating design modifications to airside infrastructure across the Pearson Airport Accelerator Program. This includes overseeing the design change process from identification through implementation, ensuring all revisions are accurately captured, communicated, approved, and integrated into the construction plan. You will serve as the key liaison between design consultants, construction teams, and stakeholders to ensure change impacts are assessed holistically across safety, operations, cost, and schedule.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the design change process for airfield scopes (e.g., runways, taxiways, aprons, airside utilities, lighting systems).
- Coordinate with design consultants, construction managers, and GTAA stakeholders to validate scope changes and assess their technical and operational impacts.
- Maintain the design change log and lead tracking, documentation, and approval workflows through established governance structures.
- Evaluate proposed changes for constructability, regulatory compliance (TP312, ICAO, NAV CANADA), and alignment with GTAA operational constraints.
- Facilitate multi-disciplinary design reviews and risk assessments for all proposed airfield changes.
- Collaborate with schedulers and cost control teams to update baseline metrics based on approved design changes.
- Ensure all updates are reflected accurately in drawing sets, BIM models, and as-built documentation.
- Participate in change management committees, interface control working groups, and stakeholder coordination sessions.
- Support audit readiness and reporting requirements by maintaining accurate records of design change history and decision rationale.
WORK CONDITIONS
The position will be based at our offices in Mississauga, Ontario, with regular visits to the site offices as required. This position is 5 days per week with core hours of work between approximately 8:00am5:00pm with 1 hour Lunch or as agreed upon with your manager.
All employees must complete a RAIC and Criminal background check.
DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES
- 810+ years of experience in design coordination, change management, or engineering on complex infrastructure projects.
- Deep understanding of airfield systems, aviation safety protocols, and airport design standards (including TP312, FAA, ICAO).
- Proven track record managing design changes within large, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Strong working knowledge of change control processes, drawing/version control, and configuration management tools.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and documentation skills.
- Degree in civil engineering, construction management, or architecture; PMP or equivalent certification is an asset.
- Experience working in secure airside environments is preferred.
