PACT (Pearson Accelerator Construction Team) is a General Partnership of Alberici, Amico, Kenaidan, and Obayashi, supported by design partners Egis, Mott MacDonald, and Weston Williamson + Partners. Together, we are delivering Accelerator, a major program of Pearson LIFT (Long-term Investment in Facilities and Terminals), Toronto Pearson's infrastructure development plan. This multi-year program is designed to address immediate passenger growth demands while preparing Canadas largest airport for the future of air travelincluding critical upgrades to airfield and infrastructure, greenhouse gas reduction initiatives, modernization of Terminals 1 and 3, and the creation of a world-class passenger experience.

JOB SUMMARY

WORK CONDITION The Cost Controller is responsible for supporting effective financial management and reporting across the project lifecycle. This role ensures accurate cost tracking, forecasting, and control of expenditures for assigned work packages while maintaining alignment with program budgets and commercial requirements. Working collaboratively with project management, procurement, and scheduling teams, the Cost Controller provides visibility into financial performance and supports timely decision-making to maintain budget compliance and project efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Track, analyze, and report on project costs, commitments, and forecasts against approved budgets.
  • Support monthly cost reporting and variance analysis across assigned project areas.
  • Review and validate subcontractor and supplier invoices against contracts, progress, and deliverables.
  • Maintain cost control systems and ensure consistency of cost data across project teams.
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop accurate cost-to-complete forecasts and identify potential overruns or savings.
  • Prepare financial summaries and dashboards for internal and external reporting.
  • Assist with the development of work breakdown structures (WBS) and cost codes to ensure alignment with schedule and commercial structures.
  • Participate in project change management by analyzing cost impacts of variations and supporting approval processes.
  • Support project closeout, reconciliation, and handover of cost documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, financial governance, and program reporting standards.

The position will be based at our offices in Mississauga, Ontario, with regular visits to the site offices as required. This position is 5 days per week with core hours of work between approximately 8:00am5:00pm with a 1-hour lunch, or as agreed upon with your manager. All employees must complete a RAIC and Criminal Background Check.

Desired Skills, Knowledge & Competencies

  • 5+ years of experience in cost control, project accounting, or financial management within large-scale infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, Finance, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with proficiency in cost management systems and Excel (advanced level).
  • Experience working with SAP, Prism, or similar project control tools considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with project scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and their integration with cost reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of commercial processes, contracts, and change management principles.
