Description

At CI, we see a great place to work as one that is a safe place for everyone to have a voice, where people are empowered to take ownership over meaningful work, where there is an opportunity to grow through stretching themselves, where they can work on innovative products and projects, and where employees are supported and engaged in doing so. We are currently seeking an Associate to join our Private Client Group. In this role, the Associate will support the Investment Counsellor for the Atlantic region, focusing on clients with assets in excess of $3 million.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • The associate will support the Investment Counsellor in preparation for client meetings, including creation and editing of slide decks, macroeconomic or market related research and commentary, analysis of client portfolios, investment taxation and income planning, assisting with the investment policy process and portfolio design and updating client relationship management (CRM) information.
  • The position may also include research on specific equity positions or sectors, portfolio construction analysis and suggestions and scenario analysis related to portfolio changes, including tax implications, diversification, volatility and total return and attending client or advisor meetings.
  • There may be some administrative support work, including the onboarding of new clients, during busier periods.
  • This position is geared for an individual aspiring to move into an Investment Counsellor role within 24 months due to the strong growth of the Private Client Group within the region.
  • The role is part of a broader team of Wealth Planning professionals delivering a holistic investment and wealth planning experience to clients. While the Associate's role is primarily to support the Investment Counsellor, they will collaborate closely with the Atlantic Wealth Planning team and may also assist the referring advisors with prospecting and sales. The role also requires an ability to provide a superior service level to High-Net-Worth Clients and referring advisors. Compensation is comprised of a base salary and bonus.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • University degree in business or related discipline
  • Completion or enrollment in either the Certified Investment Manager (CIM) or Chartered Financial Analyst program (CFA) as this individual is expected to be licensed as an associate portfolio manager/associate advising rep with discretionary investment management authority within 2 years.
  • Ability to interact effectively with various types of people (advisors, assistants, HNW clients)
  • Ability to understand and interpret investment solutions, the markets, the economy, and financial planning concepts, and communicate them confidently to audiences with varying degrees of financial knowledge. This includes applying critical thinking and analytical skills to support the Investment Counsellor directly in portfolio construction, investment recommendations, and client relationship management.
  • Must be able to travel – there is the possibility of up to 20% travel, generally within Atlantic Canada
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in the financial services industry.
  • Opportunity to advance into an Investment Counsellor role upon obtaining required licenses and registrations.

We offer an in-office environment, competitive benefits, and a supportive workplace to help our employees thrive both personally and professionally.
