Location: Windsor, Ontario

We are seeking an experienced Lathe Operator / Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining lathe machines to produce high-quality precision parts. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and load materials into lathe equipment manually or with the assistance of hoists or cranes.
  • Select, install, and secure cutting tools based on job specifications.
  • Replace worn cutting tools and ensure workpieces are properly set up on the lathe.
  • Observe machine readouts and compare results against blueprints to confirm dimensions, tolerances, and cutting speeds.
  • Make adjustments to machine controls and settings when required to maintain accuracy.
  • Determine material quantities needed and regulate machine speeds to ensure optimal performance.
  • Inspect finished parts using micrometers, dial gauges, and other precision instruments to verify quality.
  • Conduct test runs to confirm the machine is producing accurate and consistent parts.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the equipment, as part of daily housekeeping.
  • Adhere to all workplace health and safety standards as outlined under Ontarios Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Accurately record work performed on job sheets and provide updates to the reporting manager.
  • Carry out other duties as required to support production and maintenance needs.
Requirements
  • 35 years of experience operating lathes or in a machinist role.
  • Strong understanding of machine setup, operation, and maintenance.
  • Proficient with blueprint reading and precision measurement tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and make machine adjustments when required.
  • Knowledge of cutting tools, their uses, and replacement procedures.
  • Comfortable working in an industrial environment with exposure to noise and heavy lifting.
  • Safety-focused, detail-oriented, and organized.
  • Completion of college technical training or apprenticeship (Machining or related) is an asset.
