Forklift Operator/Material Handler - Day Shift

Position Scope/Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Material Handler to join our shipping department. In this role, you will be responsible for moving, organizing, and preparing materials and products for shipment. You will work closely with the shipping team to ensure that all materials are stored properly, inventory is accurately tracked, and shipments are prepared for timely dispatch.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Efficiently move and store materials, products, and shipments within the shipping department and warehouse.
• Pick and stage products according to customer orders, ensuring accuracy and timely processing for shipment.
• Assist with inventory tracking, stock rotation, and cycle counting to ensure products are available for shipping and to prevent stockouts or overstocking.
• Prepare materials for shipment by packing them according to company specifications, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
• Verify shipping contents, labeling, and packaging to ensure all items are accurate and meet quality standards after dispatch.
• Safely operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) to transport products throughout the warehouse and shipping areas.
• Follow safety protocols and warehouse guidelines to ensure a safe work environment and the proper handling of all materials.
• Inspect materials and products for damage and report any discrepancies to the supervisor or manager.
• Work closely with the shipping team, inventory control, and other departments to ensure smooth operations and efficient workflow.
• Maintain accurate records of materials handled, including quantities, destinations, and storage locations.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and organized workspace, ensuring that all areas are free of hazards.

Professional Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of experience in a warehouse or shipping environment, with a focus on material handling or inventory control preferred.
• Knowledge of warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, and inventory management.
• Ability to operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks, in a safe and efficient manner.
• Basic math skills to accurately count and track materials.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
• Forklift certification (preferred but not required).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
• Ability to operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
