The Opportunity

General Bank of Canada is looking for a permanent, fulltime Team Lead, Funding & Dealer Services to join as a key contributor with the Banks Funding & Dealer Services team. Consistent with the growth trajectory of the Bank, this is an excellent opportunity for the right individual to contribute to building the Bank of the future with considerable potential for learning, growth, and advancement.

Reporting to the Manager, Lending Support, the Team Lead, Funding & Dealer Services will provide leadership and support to the Manager with training, client escalations, process improvements and support to funding and dealer services team members. The Team Lead will maintain and help manage all loan processing functions and workflows and serve as a guide and advisor for the administration team and will also be hands-on in the preparation, processing, and funding of retail auto loans.

This role will ensure accuracy and efficiency in the processing of retail auto-loan documents, documentation, compliance, and funding of the loans and will, with the Manager, review processes on a regular basis to ensure optimum efficiency while maintaining the customer service focus. The Team Lead will ultimately ensure that operations continue to meet or exceed GBC customer service standards.

Position Responsibilities

Loan Processing & Administration

  • Responsible for the timely creation, auditing, entering, and funding of loan files daily and ensuring that said loans follow GBC loan workflows, processes, and procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve any loan inquiries or transaction irregularities received from GBC customers, banks and or any internal sources to avoid potential discrepancies.
  • Work with the Manager, Lending Support to resolve and recognize inconsistent, insufficient and/or irregular information in loan documentation so that GBC may maintain compliance with legislation.
  • Process and prepare loan renewals or cancellations to ensure timely and accurate documentation of records.
  • Complete critical checks in the banking platform (PPLUS) to ensure accuracy in loan information and correction of any errors.

Dealer Support

  • Responsible for reviewing and maintaining lien registration reports, as well as creating new manual registrations, lien amendments, renewals, and manual discharges. Supports reporting requirements by reviewing and maintaining lien registration reports as required.
  • Responsible for fostering strong relationships with dealership personnel by providing courteous and professional customer service for all phone and email inquiries.
  • Resolve escalated issues raised by Dealerships through research, clarifying questions and providing alternative solutions when required that comply with the Banks policies and procedures. Also provide support to the GBC and First Canadian Reps with any inquiries and by resolving issues efficiently and accurately.
  • Provide support for the legal team with administration and conducting of searches for lien, corporate and land as required.
  • Provide feedback opportunities for improvements on policies and procedures by making recommendations for improving the quickness and efficiency of departmental processes. Actively participate in creating a culture of continuous improvement as it relates to the procedures, tasks to ensure we are focused on elevating the experience of our internal partners and external partners at GBC.

Leadership

  • Assist in training, knowledge share and support of team members in all aspects of the loan processing cycle.
  • Support continuous improvement of administrative team processes by committing to generating ideas specific to improving the loan processing cycle.
  • Help monitor team member workload and loan processing volumes in order to assist team members in maintaining maximum administrative efficiency.
  • Support the Administration Manager and administration team by being a knowledge expert for general loan questions and execution of loan processing.
  • Support the Administration Manager by setting the bar for team standards, assisting in mediating risk management, and accurately performing administration tasks.
  • Provide guidance and support to Administration team members when correcting errors.

What You Bring to the Table

Required Qualifications

  • Proven data entry skills, with the ability to handle large volumes of loans.
  • Intermediate MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • High school diploma required.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced, high-volume environment which requires the ability to be flexible and multitask.
  • Strong organizational, time management and prioritizing skills, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail ensuring deadlines are met and no details are overlooked.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years administration experience in banking or consumer lending is an asset.
  • Previous supervisory, coaching or team lead experience.
  • Some post-secondary education in the fields of administration/business, finance, or related work experience.
  • High level of emotional intelligence with proven ability to communicate effectively, resolve conflicts, and foster collaboration.
  • Knowledge and understanding of retail loan products, lending processes and an understanding of credit terminology.
