General Manager Location: Fort Saint John Salary: $130,000 – $140,000 Team Size: 15 people on siteAbout the RoleWe're seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead operations at our facility in Fort Saint John. Reporting to the Regional General Manager, you'll oversee all aspects of the site's performance, lead a dedicated team, and drive business growth through exceptional customer service and operational excellence.Perks & Benefits

Duties as a General Manager:
  • Lead and manage yard operations and staff
  • Works with the Regional Manager and VP, Operations to set annual budget for the yard, taking into account: equipment condition; environmental necessities; operational needs; business growth.
  • proactively identifies and pursues new business prospects for company and develop existing relationships to achieve growth in volume and market share.
  • Oversees environmental, health & safety programs and processes to create a safe environment for all employees, customers and visitors.
  • Measures and reports service and operational data and partners with corporate subject matter experts to enhance key performance measures.
  • Set and manage annual budgets in collaboration with senior leadership
  • Drive business development and customer growth
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health & safety standards
  • Oversee HR functions including training and performance management
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with other locations and corporate teams to expand services
Requirements:
  • 5+ years in operations/distribution management, including team leadership
  • 3+ years managing a profit center
  • Adept at sales and business development and proven ability to win new customers and accounts.
  • Experience with continuous improvement programs
  • Proficiency in MS Office and business software
  • Scrap metal industry experience is an asset
  • Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and collaborative spirit
