Company Overview
Our client is a parent company offering shared services to two smaller entities within the industrial construction space. The ideal person for this role will have a passion for and experience working within the privately owned, small- medium enterprise space in Canada. Our client is in an aggressive growth mode and has current operations in both Canada and the US.
Role Overview
Reporting into the President and CEO, the Financial Controller will be a part of the leadership team focusing on day to day financial controllership functions of both companies including AP, AR, billings, and payroll.
Responsibilities
- Be a hands on Controller supervising and mentoring a growing team of 2 responsible for AP, billings, AR and Payroll.
- Manage all accounting, compliance, and sales tax across Canada/U.S.
- Reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, variance analysis
- Job costing, % of completion reports
- Manage the insurance, banking, auditors, government bodies and other 3rd party relationships
- Assist with M&A activities as required
Qualifications
- CPA designation with 5+ years experience in a Controller, Finance Manager or other Leadership role.
- Experience supporting construction, building material or project-based service businesses preferred
- Strong understanding of both Canadian and U.S. GAAP, tax, and regulatory requirements
- Proven ability to manage accounting across multiple legal entities and jurisdictions
- Proficiency in accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Great Planes, Netsuite or similar ERP platforms
- Corporate or shared services experience an asset
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a process-driven mindset
