Mulberry Residence is a trauma-informed children's home in Pickering, Ontario, dedicated to providing a nurturing, safe, and culturally sensitive environment for children in care. Our approach emphasizes emotional healing, stability, and personal growth through a structured, compassionate, and individualized support system.
Position Overview
We are seeking Residential Child and Youth Workers to join our care team in both live-in and 8-hour shift roles. The successful candidates will support children's daily routines, promote emotional regulation, model positive behaviour, and maintain a family-like home atmosphere while adhering to trauma-informed principles and standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide daily supervision, emotional support, and care for children in residence
· Assist with morning and bedtime routines, meals, hygiene, and recreation
· Implement trauma-informed strategies and support emotional regulation
· Respond appropriately to behavioural, emotional, or mental health crises·
· Document daily activities, incidents, and progress in a timely, accurate manner
· Communicate effectively with management, caseworkers, and clinical supports
· Support educational, cultural, and life-skills programming
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe home environment
· Participate in team meetings, ongoing training, and care planning sessions
Qualifications
· Diploma or Degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Service Work, Psychology, or related field
· Minimum 1–2 years of experience supporting children or youth in a residential or community care setting
· Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and child development
· First Aid & CPR Level C certification (required)
· Mental Health First Aid and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) or equivalent (required or willingness to obtain)
· Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check (required)
· Valid G Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle (asset)
· Knowledge of CYFSA and O. Reg. 156/18 (asset)
· CPI, UMAB, or Safe Management certification (asset)
· Cultural awareness and sensitivity to diverse communities, with a focus on South Asian and multicultural care

· Compensation: TBD - commensurate with experience
· Schedule: Rotating shifts (morning, evening, overnight) or live-in schedule
