We are seeking a highly organized Staff Accountant who is committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences and has a keen eye for detail. The ideal candidate will be proactive in asking questions, eager to learn new skills, and dedicated to continuous improvement.
Priorities will include:
- Preparing accurate financial reports for Senior Accountants and Clients.
- Managing/supporting client relationships.
- Effectively using cloud accounting software, including Xero, QBO, Dext and Plooto
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform the day-to-day accounting activities to maintain client records, while ensuring completeness of the records.
- Enter data into accounting software, while managing the integrity of information and documentation.
- Review and process documentation submitted by clients (bills, invoices, etc).
- Proactively reach out to clients for additional information thats needed.
- Communicate with clients by email and video calls.
- Organize and prepare accounting records, financial statements, and reports for the Senior Accountant.
- Provide regular processing for accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Preparing sales tax (GST/HST/PST) returns

Experience + Requirements
- 1 year of bookkeeping experience is required.
- Familiarity with cloud accounting software (such as Xero and/or QBO)
- Must pass a criminal background check and/or education and employment verification.
- Working from home is a requirement, including access to high-speed internet and availability during core business hours.

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $55,000 to $65,000 per year

Our Interview Process:
- Phone Screen: Selected candidates will be invited to a phone interview with our People & Culture Generalist, Ashley Saunders, to discuss the role in more detail.
- Case Activity: Candidates moving forward will be asked to participate in a Case Activity. Access to Excel or Google Sheets is required.
- Interview with Leadership: Candidates progressing to the final stage will take part in a 2-way Zoom interview with our Director of Accounting Services, Jessica Wong, and our Accounting Services Manager, Beata Fartel. During this session, you'll discuss your case, address any final questions, and some candidates may be asked to complete a QBO walkthrough.
- Final Stage: The selected candidate will be extended an offer and introduced to the team!
