About MAGNUS HRS
MAGNUS HRS is a leading Canadian healthcare staffing firm that connects hospitals, clinics, and long-term care providers with top-tier healthcare professionals across nursing, allied health, and medical support roles. With an expanding footprint across Canada and the U.S., we are focused on improving healthcare delivery by ensuring that organizations have access to qualified, reliable professionals when they need them most.
We are seeking a Market Analyst / Business Researcher to help identify where the biggest market opportunities exist within Canada's healthcare labor ecosystem — particularly within the Allied Health and Nursing segments.
Position Summary
The Market Analyst / Business Researcher will be responsible for conducting quantitative and qualitative research to assess market demand, workforce supply, and opportunity sizing for MAGNUS's continued expansion.
The analyst will map out the Canadian Allied Health workforce landscape—defining and quantifying categories such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, diagnostic imaging technologists, medical laboratory technologists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and others.
This role will also analyze vacancy data and regional demand trends for nurses and allied health professionals, ultimately identifying the highest-value markets and disciplines for future MAGNUS growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Market Sizing and Workforce Research
Quantify the total number of Allied Health professionals in Canada, segmented by job type (e.g., physiotherapists, radiology technologists, pharmacists, etc.).
Research professional registration databases, government labor reports, and industry associations to validate workforce estimates.
Build a structured database that classifies roles by certification type, regulatory body, and province.
2. Demand and Vacancy Analysis
Gather and analyze data on job vacancies for nurses and allied healthcare workers from sources such as Job Bank Canada, Indeed, provincial health authorities, and recruitment platforms.
Identify geographic regions and job types with the highest unmet staffing needs.
Produce visual reports (charts, heat maps, dashboards) showing demand concentration and trends over time.
3. Opportunity and Strategy Support
Provide clear, data-driven insights to support business development and expansion decisions.
Evaluate which job categories or regions represent the highest growth potential for MAGNUS's service offerings.
Assist in building a market opportunity model that forecasts staffing demand, supply constraints, and market size in dollar terms.
4. Reporting and Collaboration
Present research findings in clear, investor- and executive-ready reports.
Collaborate with leadership to align insights with company growth objectives.
Provide ongoing updates as new data emerges and recommend priority focus areas.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, Health Policy, or Data Analytics (Master's preferred).
3+ years of experience in market research, business intelligence, or economic analysis, ideally within healthcare, recruitment, or workforce sectors.
Strong proficiency in data gathering, Excel/Google Sheets, Power BI/Tableau, and reporting tools.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
Knowledge of Canada's healthcare system and labor force reporting (e.g., CIHI, Statistics Canada, provincial health agencies).
Strong written communication skills for drafting research summaries and recommendations.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Completion of detailed Allied Health workforce mapping by job type and province.
Development of a national vacancy report highlighting high-demand occupations.
Delivery of actionable insights and strategic recommendations identifying top three opportunity markets for MAGNUS expansion.
Compensation
Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
Performance-based incentives tied to project outcomes.
Health and dental benefits, flexible work arrangements, and opportunities for advancement within MAGNUS's growing research and strategy team.
