Provence en Couleur is a family-owned flower and aromatherapy shop in Vancouver, specializing in French lavender products and essential oils. Founded in 2014, the company has grown from small-scale sales to a recognized retail and wholesale business. All products are designed locally, with most assembled, bottled, and packaged in Canada. We are seeking an Assistant Manager – Retail Trade to help oversee store operations, support the owner in managing day-to-day activities, and ensure the delivery of excellent customer service.

Job Duties
The Assistant Manager – Retail Trade will be responsible for supporting the management of the store's retail and wholesale activities, including:

  • Plan, organize, and oversee daily store operations in collaboration with ownership.
  • Manage staff schedules, assign daily duties, and supervise performance to maintain service standards.
  • Monitor customer preferences and local retail trends to recommend product focus and seasonal promotions.
  • Determine merchandise to be featured in the shop and assist with pricing strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Source and negotiate with vendors to secure supplies, packaging, and specialty merchandise for resale.
  • Implement marketing initiatives such as seasonal events, community outreach, and social media campaigns.
  • Support preparation of budgets, authorize day-to-day expenditures, and monitor sales revenues.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by addressing requests, resolving issues promptly, and improving service standards.
  • Assist in recruitment, training, and retention of staff, ensuring product knowledge and service quality.

Employment Requirements

  • Completion of secondary school is required; post-secondary education in business, retail management, or a related field is an asset.
  • Several years of experience in retail trade, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or assistant managerial role.
  • Experience in small business or boutique retail operations is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage a small team effectively.
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and basic inventory management.
  • Bilingual (English and French) is an asset, but not mandatory.

Job Information

  • Employment type: Permanent, Full-Time
  • Hours of work: 30 hours per week (Tuesday – Saturday / 6 hours per day)
  • Wage offered: $40.87 per hour
