Our client a growing transportation company in the Niagara region is growing and looking for a Transport Dispatcher to join their team.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise fleet personnel to ensure proper allocation of human resources and equipment in order to maximize operational efficiencies.
- Input all information, update and ensure its accuracy in our software system.
- Act as a liaison between customer and drivers, and dispatch drivers to required locations.
- Schedule assignments and coordinate activities of drivers and equipment.
- Work with inter-company staff to maintain equipment consistent with the preventative maintenance program and CVOR requirements. Help schedule maintenance repairs as required.
- Respond to queries from employees regarding service issues.
- Respond to queries from load brokers, and existing customers.
- Build loads and find extra freight to fill our trucks, either outbound or inbound with customers and using Load Link as necessary.
- Manage and reduce empty miles.
- Establish routing based on requirements and update as needed
- Local and highway dispatching.
- Assist with customs paperwork, ensuring everything is cleared to come into Canada or out to the USA.
- Prepare and print driver route sheets according to efficiencies and accommodating customer requests.
- Ensure driver follow hours of service, and all safety and compliance protocols.
- Knowledge of the Highway Traffic Act, load security and regulations.
- Allocating vehicles use for next day use, as well as future vehicle utilization.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Minimum of a high school diploma.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years in asset based trucking.
- Excellent verbal and strong written communication skills
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently.
- A team player
- Familiar with transportation software
