ITPS Canada is looking for Egress/Aviation Life Support Equipment Engineers to join the Aviation Life Support Equipment/Egress Department where you will be primarily involved in the maintenance of ejection seats & flight equipment including parachutes, flight helmets, oxygen masks, and other lifesaving equipment used in the day-to-day operations at ITPS and ITTC. Duties:
- Fitment and removal of Ejection Seats and safety Equipment.
- Maintaining accurate Records and Log-cards.
- Training all personnel entering the Aircraft Cockpit fitted with Active Seats.
- Brief Pilots, Students and Ground crew.
- Maintenance of VS2 BRI Ejection Seats
- Type 4 Mk1 Martin Baker Ejection Seats
- Participate as ALSE member on the safety council and air safety meetings.
- Inventory of ITPS ALSE equipment on fixed wing and rotary wing.
- Onboard survival equipment requirements as per TC regulation.
- Number/ID ITPS ALSE equipment for recording.
- Issue and return record procedures for ITPS ALSE equipment.
- Compatibility of the ITPS ALSE equipment with aircraft.
- Periodic inspection schedule for all ITPS ALSE equipment on and offaircraft.
- Conduct equipment inspection, fitting, adjustment, and aircrew instruction in survival, use and care of the support equipment.
- Inspect maintain, and evaluate life support equipment and activities, to include receipt, handling and storage of the life support equipment.
- Use appropriate references and other publications to maintain appropriate and thorough records, maintenance and inspection forms, training aids, and on-board aircraftsurvival equipment.
- Assist in the safety of the shop, hanger, and flight line.
- Conduct life support and survival continuation training for assigned personnel.
- Plan and perform inspections on ITPS ALSE equipment for aircrews as per established procedures. Carry out periodic inspections on various survival equipment used by ITPS.
- Maintain the ITPS ALSE inventory.
- Fit new ITPS students and aircrew with ALSE equipment.
- Order the required equipment for new personnel as directed.
- Perform repairs on ALSE equipment, as detailed in established procedures.
- Participate in seat removal/installations as required.
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on all ALSE related topics, including the ejection seat.
- Maintain the ALSE Support Centre in a clean and tidy condition.
- Pursue initiatives to improve ALSE equipment in an economical fashion.
- Perform general administrative duties related to the ALSE Support Centres operations.
- Carry out dinghy drill and emergency egress training for ITPS students and aircrew personnel.
- Develop and perform training on ITPS ALSE equipment inspections to other ITPS technicians.
- Maintain compliance with all ITPS policies and procedures.
- If available, assist in flight line prep and procedures.
- Perform other duties as instructed by the supervisor.
Requirements:
- Completion of a two to three-year college program in avionics or electronics or equivalent training from a military institution or otherwise
- Aeronautical Level 3 Certificate required (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds Level 3, or equivalent).
- 5+ years of related Egress experience
- Martin Baker Type Ejection Seat Maintenance experience or training preferred.
- VS1-BRI-8 U2 Type Seats -Level 2 Maintenance experience or training preferred.
- Must have completed Parachute Rigger course.
- Experience in the use of Special Test Equipment.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with the following:
- Fitment and removal of Ejection Seats and safety Equipment.
- Maintaining accurate Records and Log-cards.
- Training all personnel entering the Aircraft Cockpit fitted with Active Seats.
- Brief Pilots, Students and Ground crew.
- Training First Responders (Airport Fire Crew) in Rescue Procedures.
- Equipment related certification is an asset.
- Leadership, communication and people skills and the ability to accept responsibility.
- Attention to detail and results oriented.
- Must be able to pass a background check and undergo required fingerprinting
