Description

Your role at GEI. We are seeking a highly motivated Geotechnical Intern to join our Fraser Valley, BC team for the upcoming co-op term. In this role, you'll work alongside industry-leading experts, gaining hands-on experience in the field, the lab, and technical reporting. You'll be part of real-world projects - testing, inspecting, and ensuring quality in the structures and systems that shape our communities. Essential Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Assist with geotechnical field work (drill rig supervision, soil/groundwater sampling, well monitoring, in-situ testing)
  • Document field procedures and observations with detailed notes and photographs
  • Perform lab testing (moisture contents, sieves, hydrometers, Atterbergs, proctors, etc.)
  • Help prepare technical reports, memos, analysis, and specifications
  • Follow site-specific health and safety plans and participate in safety briefings
  • Coordinate daily with contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams
Minimum Qualifications
  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in geotechnical/civil engineering or a related field
  • Team player with the ability to work independently
  • Strong work ethic, motivation, and attention to detail
  • Excellent written/verbal communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Proficient in MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
