Job Description

The Agriculture department is looking for an experienced seasonal full-time Legislated Mower Operator until October 31st 2025. Legislated Mower Operators are responsible for providing roadside and industrial subdivision mowing services.

Responsibilities include:

  • Operating a tractor side-arm combination mower
  • Performing basic maintenance and repairs to the tractor mower
  • Changing blades
  • Locating road allowance mowing sites on a map
  • Completing safety and equipment reports digitally
  • Loading, transporting, and unloading tractor mower
  • Reviewing local land conditions and marking hazards
  • Cleaning and maintaining Agriculture shop
  • Maintaining mowing records (hours, ground condition, mileage mowed)
  • Cleaning tractor mowers before leaving site to avoid cross-contamination of weeds
  • Notifying Vegetation Management crews of noxious weeds and providing land location
  • Picking weeds and seeding ditches in new construction areas
Qualifications
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and acceptable driver's abstract, Class 3 preferred
  • Experience operating farm equipment, tractors, side-arm mowers, 3-pt hitch mowers, 3-pt hitch seeders, and/or hydro-seeders
  • Ability to maintain the equipment used
  • Knowledge of noxious weeds, an asset
  • Ability to manage time and priorities, and multi-task
  • Comfortable using computers, including MS Office and GIS software
  • Comfortable reading maps and accurately determining land locations
  • The successful applicants must have reliable transportation to and from work.

Additional Information

Term Length: The incumbent can start as soon as possible and the contract will end on October 31, 2025.

Work Schedule: This job is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm with some weekends and evenings as required.

Hourly Pay: $28.61 to $33.66.

Pay Rate: $28.61 to $33.66 hourly

Closing Date: August 17th, 2025 11.59 pm.
