The opportunity
Reporting to the Materials and Process Planning Manager, we are seeking a Process Planner / Manufacturing Engineer Team Lead to supervise the creation and maintenance of core manufacturing master files, ensure the integrity of Bill of Materials (BOMs), and manage the release and communication of plans that drive production. You will work closely with Design Engineering, Procurement, Inventory Control, Costing, and Production teams to ensure seamless planning and execution throughout the lifecycle of each project. This is a leadership role that combines technical.

You will focus on:
- Define and maintain master files. You will oversee the creation and ongoing maintenance of essential master files including Item Masters, Phantom Masters, Process Plans, and Job Plans. You will ensure BOMs are correctly sequenced to align with cost centres and materials allocation. You will manage BOM import files and work with production to reflect sampling results in final BOMs.
- Lead plan release. You will coordinate the timely release of plans to support manufacturing requirements, updating them as new BOMs are issued and communicating changes clearly to all stakeholders. You will ensure alignment of long-lead material purchases with current plan needs.
- Manage change control. You will review and assess the impact of BOM changes from Design, updating all associated files such as Process Plans, Item and Phantom Masters. You will ensure production, procurement, inventory, and costing teams are informed of relevant changes and can act accordingly.
- Coordinate pre-production planning. You will participate in cross-functional meetings to understand design, procurement, and production timelines and requirements. You will work with the Materials Planning Manager to align BOM structure with production strategy and support demand forecasting.
- Supervise and support the team. You will guide planners through the creation and maintenance of files and plans. You will review and audit work for accuracy and compliance, and allocate responsibilities based on project timelines.
- Analyze and report on KPIs. You will generate reports and analyses that support continuous improvement and benchmarking of performance. You will help create and implement processes that improve efficiency and accuracy.
You have:
- The leadership and planning experience. You have experience leading planning teams or projects within manufacturing, ideally in a high-mix-low-volume or lean production environment. You bring expertise in materials planning, production planning, and master file management.
- The technical skills. You are proficient in ERP and inventory systems and advanced in Microsoft Excel. You are confident working with complex BOM structures, routings, and costing data.
- The problem-solving ability. You are solutions-focused and can manage complex, time-sensitive issues involving multiple stakeholders. You bring analytical rigour to troubleshooting and optimizing processes. You are innovative and logical and can exercise sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
- The interpersonal skills. You communicate clearly and professionally. You can influence and collaborate across teams, including Engineering, Procurement, Production, and Finance. You prioritize working closely with colleagues to complete deliverables on time. You are comfortable providing guidance and feedback to junior planners, sharing knowledge and offering support whenever and wherever needed.
- The drive for improvement. You are committed to refining processes, identifying gaps, and implementing solutions that improve accuracy, timing, and overall production readiness.You are both vocal on best practices and modern approaches and open to the ideas and feedback of others.
