About the Role:

This position assists with the daily maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the centre's assets, ensuring all spaces and equipment meet organizational standards for quality and safety. Working closely with the Facility Operations Manager and General Manager, the Assistant Facility Operator is responsible for responding to maintenance requests, performing preventative checks, and supporting the execution of refurbishment plans. The successful candidate will be required to travel between multiple Child Care locations on short notice.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain good interpersonal staff and volunteer relationships. Respond to phone calls, messages, emails and maintenance concerns in a timely manner.

  • Ensure all facility operations services meet the quality standards outlined in the Y Way.

  • Assist Facility Operations Manager and General Manager with the planning and execution of refurbishment plans

  • Ensure preventative and ongoing maintenance and repair of centre equipment, mechanical equipment, building structures and other equipment as assigned.

  • Complete repair tasks, including basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, drywall work, and painting. Inspect and maintain fire extinguishers and emergency lighting.

  • Coordinate and schedule third-party contract work for repairs and maintenance.

  • Ensure proper use of tools and equipment in a safe manner according to safe work practices and regulatory documentation. Look for obvious safety issues during building rounds.

  • Complete maintenance checklist duties, Add any maintenance issues to task list.

  • Maintain facility records and track maintenance repairs in Asset Software.

  • Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies on a regular basis and order additional supplies as required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in building maintenance and operations.
  • Experience in the following: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and operations preferred.
  • Maintain training in needed areas.
  • Intermediate (Standard First Aid & CPR-C).
  • Able to obtain a Police Information Check and Vulnerable sector check.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and other forms of technology effective.
  • Current Drivers License and ability to travel between centres.
  • Travel to Regions is occasionally required.
