THE ROLEWe're on the lookout for a Mechanical Engineer in Training (EIT) with a passion for building systems and a drive to learn, contribute, and grow. In this hands-on role, you'll work on a range of mechanical system designs—from HVAC and plumbing to fire protection—for building projects across Canada. You'll collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and building owners to deliver effective, coordinated, and buildable designs. RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct heating and cooling load analysis using HAP; familiarity with energy modeling tools is a bonus
Shape initial mechanical design strategies during early project phases and carry them through to detailed construction documentation
Size and specify mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection through precise engineering calculations
Collaborate closely with a P.Eng and contribute to technical drawings and design packages using Revit and AutoCAD
Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and consultants to align design goals and project expectations
Research equipment options, connect with vendors, and assist with product selections
Review shop drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements
Support construction administration: respond to RFIs, issue site instructions, and draft change notices
Conduct field reviews and site audits to ensure installation meets code and design standards
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a Canadian-accredited institution
Minimum of 1 year of industry experience in Canada in an engineering environment working with building projects (oil and gas, industrial, or manufacturing projects will not suffice)
Foundational knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systemsAbility to read, interpret, and create mechanical design drawings
Experience with Revit and AutoCAD (a significant advantage)
- Registered EIT or eligible for registration
- Some experience with codes and standards such as OBC, ASHRAE, NFPA, and CSA
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
Clear communicator with strong written and verbal skills
