The Opportunity
The Software Development Intern will work on the Digital Harbour project, a cutting-edge initiative at COVE focused on the development of a common set of physical and digital infrastructure to facilitate research, commercialization, and innovation. The vision of Digital Harbour is a harbour maximizing collaboration. The Intern will support Digital Harbour platform testing, feature integration, and software development to enhance the platforms capabilities. This position is ideal for a post-secondary Computer Science student interested in applying their technical skills to real-world challenges in the marine sector.


This internship is full-time paid employment from Sept - Dec 2025.

What You'll Do:

  • Test and debug Digital Harbour platform features.
  • Integrate new functionalities, ensuring interoperability within the platform.
  • Develop and optimize software components to improve system performance.
  • Collaborate with industry partners to refine platform usability and address technical challenges.
  • Document testing processes, findings, and recommendations for system improvements.
  • Represent COVE in all areas of work and delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with COVEs policies and procedures, including human resources, safety, and operational standards.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as required to support the success and growth of COVEs programs and strategic initiatives.


What You Bring

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Students from other disciplines may be considered but must demonstrate relevant experience in software development.
  • Typically suited for second-year undergraduate students and above, based on the required technical skillsets.
  • Experience with Javascript, SQL, Python, and AWS is considered an asset.
  • An understanding of software testing principles and debugging techniques.
  • Knowledge of software deployment and maintenance practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to support documentation, peer collaboration, and participation in team discussions.
  • Capable of managing project deadlines, prioritizing tasks, and staying organized in a dynamic and fast paced work environment.
  • Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to engage constructively with peers and mentors to collaboratively work through technical challenges.

Additional Assets:

  • Direct experience in the technology or marine sector.
