Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Technician to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth operation of our accounting processes. This position requires proficiency in various accounting software and a solid understanding of accounting principles. The Accounting Technician will be responsible for managing accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, and assisting with financial reporting.
Duties
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments.
- Perform account reconciliation, including bank reconciliation and account analysis, to ensure accuracy in financial records.
- Maintain organized financial records, including documentation for all transactions and reconciliations.
- Collaborate with team members to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency within the department.
- Maintaining ledgers and balancing accounts using both manual and computerized systems
- Posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, preparing trial balances, and drafting financial statements
- Preparing payroll cheques as well as payments for utilities, taxes, etc.
- Submitting tax remittance, worker's compensation, pension contribution forms, and other government documentation
- Preparing personal tax returns and statistical or financial reports
Qualifications
- A college diploma in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field
- Accounting/bookkeeping courses combined with several years of experience as a financial or accounting clerk
- MS Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas, macros)
- Understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and GAAP/IFRS
- Familiarity with Canadian tax codes, including GST/HST, payroll deductions, and remittances
Hourly rate is $36 an hour
Location: Onsite, Toronto, Canada
