Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Technician to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth operation of our accounting processes. This position requires proficiency in various accounting software and a solid understanding of accounting principles. The Accounting Technician will be responsible for managing accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, and assisting with financial reporting.
Duties
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments.
- Perform account reconciliation, including bank reconciliation and account analysis, to ensure accuracy in financial records.
- Maintain organized financial records, including documentation for all transactions and reconciliations.
- Collaborate with team members to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency within the department.
- Maintain ledgers and balancing accounts using both manual and computerized systems
- Posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, preparing trial balances, and drafting financial statements
- Preparing payroll cheques as well as payments for utilities, taxes, etc.
- Submitting tax remittance, worker's compensation, pension contribution forms, and other government documentation
- Preparing personal tax returns and statistical or financial reports
Required Qualifications
- A college diploma in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field
- Accounting/bookkeeping courses combined with at least 3 years of experience as a financial or accounting clerk
- Understanding of and experience with double-entry bookkeeping and GAAP/IFRS
- Familiarity with Canadian tax codes, including GST/HST, payroll deductions, and remittances
- Proficient in cost, manpower and equipment resource loaded schedule
- Strong computer skills specially in Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- English language, written and spoken is required
- Knowledge of and experience with SAP (ERP Software) for PRs (Purchase Requests) process (Budget Assignment) preferred.
- Ability to plan and manage multiple site priorities.
- Ability to read quantity take off reports.
- At least 1+ year of experience in large-scale public infrastructure construction projects, especially Rail/LRT.
- Experience in P3 project and joint venture environment
- Experience with TM1 reporting system.
- Experience in Hyperion Software

Pay: $36.00 per hour
