A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Project Oversight:Lead projects from order to completion and final payment, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Cost Management:Prepare and track job costing, monitor expenses, and maintain profit forecasts.
  • Site Verification:Coordinate and conduct site visits (up to 10% travel across BC, AB, and ON) to ensure project readiness, integrity, and success.
  • Supplier & Vendor Coordination:Manage POS suppliers, confirm materials, and ensure timely delivery to Westlabs warehouse.
  • Project Tracking:Use project management tools to monitor key tasks and milestones, keeping projects on schedule.
  • Drawing and Specification Review:Review drawings and specifications, as needed by the Business Development Team, to align with project goals.
  • Financial Oversight:Manage project budgets, ensuring profitability from initial sale to project completion.
  • Reporting & Estimates:Prepare job costing sheets, estimates, and client cost presentations to promote transparency.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:Partner with Sales, Procurement, Development, and Finance to improve processes and deliver value.
  • Stakeholder Management:Build strong working relationships with clients, internal teams, and on-site staff, addressing issues proactively.
  • Client Communication:Ensure smooth installations, timely closeouts, and high client satisfaction.
  • Safety & Compliance:Complete site safety paperwork, coordinate training, and keep up with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Process Optimization:Identify and implement workflows and operating policies to improve project efficiency.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

  • 3+ years of experience managing full-cycle projects ($3M to $5M revenue) in laboratory solutions, construction fit-outs, or any related scientific/medical equipment industries.
  • Technically proficient in Project Management Tools (i.e., MS Project and Smartsheet) and Microsoft Office (i.e., Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems to drive operational excellence, WorkSafe BC and WHMIS requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD and Revit drawings for project design, planning, and scheduling.
  • Youre ready to lead, inspire, and motivate a small, diverse team to achieve project goals.
  • Proven financial experience managing budgets, tracking costs, and forecasting expenses.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail.
  • Clear communicator who builds strong relationships with clients, teams, and stakeholders.
  • Willing to travel across Canada, including Vancouver, Edmonton, and Alberta, as required.
  • Organized and able to handle multiple priorities with attention to detail in a fast-paced workplace.

NICE-TO-HAVES

  • Certifications like PMP (Project Management Professional).
  • Previous project management experience in the building/fit-out industry.
