AM Dispatcher
The Dispatcher is responsible for effective day-to-day communication between driving staff and operations, ensuring the safe and efficient completion of school runs and charters. Dispatchers are expected to display exemplary patience and communication skills in dealing with driver, parent, school, and public matters.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist and/or coordinate fleet assignments
- Daily audits of driver paperwork and log sheets
- Assist with driver inquiries, time-off requests, etc.
- Accurate data entry for Operations reporting purposes
- Deal with unit breakdowns by facilitating communication between drivers and maintenance personnel, and ensure that the route involved is completed
- Provide tactful and professional phone assistance in dealing with drivers, parents, school, and public matters
- Administrative duties (such as payroll, filing, and reports)
- May be required to cover a run as required
- Office cleaning
Knowledge and Skills Required
- 1 - 3 years in a dispatch or a customer service role preferred
- Map reading skills with a strong knowledge of Okotoks and area; specifically, road systems, locations of schools, and major attractions
- Customer service background
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Self-starter who is adaptable and a quick learner
- Transportation (busing) experience considered an asset
The shift for this position is Monday – Friday, from 5:30 am – 9:30 am.
